Bad Vista!!

Ok. You've already read it a zillion times by now. And I might just sound resonating with the already heard voices screaming out their lungs in pain against the new OS,Windows Vista. The new OS from the Redmond guys, after a 5 and a half year hiatus since XP,(the Kai-Ro project as they call it), and a zillion beta releases and corresponding names ranging from Whistler to Longhorn to what not, Vista was released to a limited fanfare (I assume). But it wouldn't be wrong that geeks worldwide have trashed and bashed the new OS more than Windows Me to the length of calling it a crap-a-load-of-unwanted-shit. At a requirement of a GB of RAM,15 GB Hard Drive Space and a whole list of unwanted features which not only drag your PC experience, what'd be the justification from Mr.Gates' side, I really wonder.Simply put its a grossly obese OS which demands more than a Page 3 celebrity and well does not perform as well as it should.

I wake up in the middle of the night imagining the kind of nightmares that would be surrounding Mr.Gates right now. First it was the descent or rather butchering of the Zune(presumably called as the iPod Killer), then millions of dollars and thousands of man hours spent on research of the Vista . Add to that ,that Apple has total control over iTunes and the wide range of iPods and now iPhone. And then, the rise of Ubuntu, the Open Source Nemesis. Has the last nail on the Windows Coffin already landed? Or has Mr.Gates some more tricks up his Sleeve?

Why I moved from Vista to Ubuntu

To conclude, I'd qoute what a generic site like Wiki(pedia) has to say:-

Windows Vista has been the target of a number of negative assessments by various groups. Criticisms of Windows Vista include protracted development time, more restrictive licensing terms, the inclusion of a number of technologies aimed at restricting the copying of protected digital media and the usability of the new User Account Control security technology. Reviewers have also noted some similarities between Vista's Aero interface and that of Apple's Aqua interface for the Mac OS X operating system. Moreover, some concerns have been raised about many PCs meeting "Vista Premium Ready" hardware requirements and Vista's pricing.

vista sucks. no questions asked, answered. i dealt with of them while running tech-support errands for my univ. NO VISTAs!! KEEP 'EM AWAY FROM ME!!
it's so friggin complicated!! alright, i accept that over time will get used to it, but XP was never so big a deal!!
but does that mean i will give up windows? No WAY. Mac may be good (and as I see, you are one of the Mac-fans) but i don't see why i would spend $1200+ for it, knowing its certain limitations.
p.s. this is not a rant against apple.

@ gautam:
of course I m not promoting Apple in any way. But we all know how friggin cool Mac is. The Leopard is reviewed as the cleanest and the most useful OS written ever, and 2 million sold in just the first weekend. Plus, with Bootcamp, one can run, Leopard Mac OS X, Windows XP/Vista and Ubuntu on a Mac. So you do the math!! Windows XP support is ending next year btw. High time for the rise of Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon!!!
